Girls Lacrosse Falls Short Despite Second Half Rally
The Dolphins hosted Division 1 powerhouse Episcopal yesterday and despite a 2nd half rally fell by the final score of 12-7. Trailing by four at the half the Maroon exploded with four unanswered goals to start the 2nd half, putting Cape Henry down by eight. Determined not to go down without a fight, the Dolphins rallied at both ends of the field to come back to within four goals before falling by the final deficit of five. Ashmore Standing and Regan Haegley combined for six of the seven Cape Henry goals (three each), while Megan Bradley added one of her own. Defensively June Kramer and Meghan McKnelly played aggressively, disrupting the Maroon attack on multiple occasions. Payton Schaubach posted 12 saves on the day and newcomer Alexis Smith was a standout on the draw. The Dolphins look for their first win on Tuesday when they travel to Richmond to play Trinity Episcopal (6pm).
