Girls Lacrosse Uses Strong 2nd Half to Surge Past NSA

Cape Henry hosted Nansemond-Suffolk on Thursday afternoon in need of a strong performance, and it got just that. After fighting through a first half nail-biter the Dolphins exploded in the second half. Cape Henry played strong offense and lockdown defense in the second frame as it secured the 14-5 victory. Current Athlete of the Week Ashmore Standing kept her strong play alive by scoring seven goals to lead the Dolphins offense. Laney Clarke added three goals; Regan Haegley had two goals; and Megan Bradley and Alison Riccio each tallied a goal. Defensively Cape Henry had strong performances from Maddie Houck, June Kramer, Megan Bradley and Meghan McKnelly, while Meredith Wallace was strong in goal. The Dolphins look to build on the strong victory when they play Cox High School on Tuesday.
