Clarke's 5 Goals Leads Girls Lacrosse Team Past NSA

In a closely contested game, Cape Henry posted its first win of the season against TCIS opponent Nansemond-Suffolk Academy yesterday in Suffolk, 12-10. Tied 5-5 at the half, the Dolphins pulled ahead early into the 2nd quarter, but the Saints answered back to tie the score. Despite tying the score the Saints never managed to pull ahead, and Cape Henry outlasted them in time of possession, winning by two in the end. Laney Clarke was a standout for Cape Henry, notching five goals and causing a turnover. Regan Haegley also added three goals and three assists of her own, and Alison Riccio, Megan Bradley, and Jordan Mahone also tallied one each for the Dolphins. Defensively June Kramer and Alexis Smith dominated the Saints attack while goalie Payton Schaubach posted numerous saves in the 2nd half to keep the win out of NSA’s reach. Cape Henry competes in a Play Day at Norfolk Academy on Saturday at 1:30 and look to build on their momentum Tuesday when they travel to conference stalwart Norfolk Collegiate (4pm).
