GIRLS BASKETBALL USES DOMINANT 3RD QUARTER
TO SEAL LOPSIDED VICTORY

Cape Henry traveled to Peninsula Catholic on Thursday night and used a dominant performance from Alexis Smith en route to a lopsided 80-37 victory over its TCIS rival. The Dolphins had a comfortable 34-20 halftime lead, but they turned up the heat in the third quarter with hopes of sealing the game. They did just that. Using a strong press defense, Cape Henry outscored Peninsula Catholic 34-7 in the quarter, and it cruised to victory from there. Alexis Smith led all scorers with 29 points, and she added 10 rebounds and six steals. Khajae Hester dropped in 19 points of her own to go with eight assists and nine steals, coming up just shy of a triple-double. Zeniya Trowell had 10 points, nine rebounds and two blocks; Amalia Riess had nine points; La’Bria Wilson contributed six points (two 3-pointers) and seven rebounds; Payton Schaubach had five points (one 3-pointer); and Meredith Wallace added two points. The win improved the Dolphins to an impressive 8-0 mark, and they look to build on their unblemished record when they host Athlantic Shores on Saturday (4pm).
