Offensive Outburst Leads Boys Lacrosse Past First Flight for 1st Win of 2010



The Dolphins opened the 2010 season Thursday afternoon at home against First Flight High School (NC), and used a consistent offensive attack to earn an 18-6 victory. Cape Henry built a 5-3 first quarter lead which grew to a 10-4 halftime advantage, and the Dolphins cruised through the second half for their first win of the season. Colin Corcoran and Mike Maroon paced the offense as they combined for 17 points. Corcoran had seven goals and two assists while Maroon scored three times and dished out five assists. Garrett Kelly added two goals and three assists. Ben Rountree was a force from midfield with three goals, and Phil White, Will Mason and Austin Curran rounded out the scoring with a goal apiece. John Everett added two assists while dominating face-offs, and Will Overman led the defensive charge with 10 saves. Cape Henry (1-0) plays next on Tuesday when it hosts the Williamsburg Warriors.
